Server 2 - 14/11/08 - 23.15

Spectulise server 2 is now back online following a corruption to the file system. Following a system restart and file system check, the check found parts of the file system has corrupted. These particular areas were repaired from a backup. Once complete the system was brough back online. Appologies for the significant period of downtime experienced.

High Load - Thursday 1st December 2005 - 17:20

Earlier this evening Spectulise Server 1 experienced high load. This caused limited access and disruption to services such as cpanel, email and FTP. Websites remained online throughout.

Network downtime - Sunday 13th November 2005 - 3:30pm

A short amount of downtime may have been noticed this afternoon. This was due to an attack on the major internet network carriers upstream from us. This caused a large portion of UK websites to show downtime. Our servers remained online and fully functioning during the attack, but may have appeared to be offline due to the attack taking ISP connections in London offline.

Maintenance Complete - Wednesday 15th June 2005 - 20:59 BST

The new switch has been installed with only a couple of seconds of downtime.

Scheduled maintenance - Wednesday 15th June 2005 - 20:00 BST

5-10 minutes of downtime will be experienced at the above time, due a replacement network switch being installed.

Server downtime - Saturday 4th June 2005 - 07:48

Last night the Spectulise network suffered a number of DoS (denial of service) attacks against our main server. Each time the attack was blocked out, but each attack did cause a short period of website downtime. All other services remained online (email, ftp, cpanel etc).

PHP upgrade - 16/12/2004 - 22:00 GMT

Due to a critical security issue found in PHP, all servers were upgraded to the latest stable version 4.3.10. The upgrade created 20 minutes of website downtime (email services etc remained online), due to an incompatibility issue that was quickly resolved.

Sheduled network reboot - 07/12/2004 - 19:00 GMT

Spectulise server rebooted to apply important security patches. Less than 2 minutes downtime experienced.

Network upgrade - 08/11/2004 02:30 GMT (early morning)

Scheduled maintenance to install:

• Two new Juniper M7i core routers
• Two new Foundry FES-X 10gb/sec core switches
• New APC InfraStruXure power distribution system
• Two new 100mbps connections to the London InterNet eXchange (LINX) improving redundancy.

Maintenance was performed successfully with minimal downtime (less than 10 minutes).

Fantastico De Luxe has now been installed. Fantastico is a leading script auto installer, allowing you to quickly install and manage programs within your hosting space. To access use the 'Fantastico' link in the 'Pre-installed scripts' section of your control panel.

Domain name scams

This is a warning to all Spectulise clients.

A rogue domain name companies have been emailing domain owners demanding renewal money for domain names. They often do not host any domains and is a scam which is making alot of money.

If you receive a renewal email for your domain and are unsure of its validity please feel free to check by forwarding the email to domains@spectulise.com For all domains purchased on your behalf by Spectulise, we deal with renewals and you should never receive a renewal notice from any third party.

Spectulise has now setup SSL on our servers. SSL or Secure Socket Layer is the standard for secure transactions on the internet, encrypting data to 128 bits. If you use shopping cart features on your site this may be of interest.
